Chesterfield & Sheffield Branch Annual Dinner
Around 100 people gathered near Sheffield for the Annual President’s Dinner for the Chesterfield and Sheffield Branch of ICME.
Branch President Mark Sutton described his path into the industry culminating in him setting up his own small non-ferrous foundry. Through membership of ICME he has had the opportunity to meet many like-minded enthusiasts from the industry both here and overseas as he has attended several branch events and also World Foundry Congresses in the UK, India and China.
Before being entertained by the comedian, Zack Stevens, National President Steve Bell reminded members that promotion of membership remains important to enable ICME to continue with the present work to develop and offer training and educational courses to the younger engineers and technicians in our industry. He commended the support that many members and branches have been offering to support these initiatives.
Mike Leaney, branch secretary, was pleased with the support that the organisers received from both foundries in the area and suppliers to the industry "A great night had by all I think, excellent to see a couple of tables booked by local foundries that have not been before plus continued support from the regular stalwarts. Many thanks to all who contributed raffle prizes."
