The Worshipful Company of Engineers
The Fiona and Nicholas Hawley Award
The Worshipful Company of Engineers is a City of London Livery Company whose aim is to promote the development and advancement of the science, art and practise of engineering.
In pursuing this aim, the Company awards a number of prizes annually, and applications are now invited for the Fiona and Nicholas Hawley Award for Excellence in Environmental Engineering. The award takes the form of a cash prize of £5000 plus a medal and certificate. Applicants must be under 30 years of age, resident in the UK, and hold a graduate or postgraduate degree, or be studying for such a degree at a recognised UK university.
Last year's winner was Dr William Mayes of Newcastle University, for a paper on the use of wetlands for the treatment of highly alkaline leachates. However the interpretation of "Environmental Engineering" is extremely wide and not limited to any particular discipline.
The closing date for applications will be Monday 31st March 2008. For more information please contact John Banyard on 020 7726 4830 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
