Sad death of William R Hunter 1948-2009
“Billy” as he was affectionately known, died very suddenly and peacefully on Tuesday 10th January 2009.
Billy was the third generation of the Hunter family to own and run a foundry in Lanarkshire, the foundries being sited in and around Wishaw, Lanarkshire.
He was a Foundryman learning his skills from an early age from his father and finally running the family business in the early 70’s. He was still working in the Foundry industry up to his untimely death.
Billy was a larger than life character, kind and generous, well liked by anybody who came into contact with him. He recently moved home from the Lanarkshire area to Ayrshire a few months ago. He was a Past President of the Scottish Branch in 1986 and a member of the current Council, seldom missing either a Technical or Council meeting. We as Scottish members will miss Billy for his contribution and support at Branch meetings, both in his questions and quirky votes of thanks.
Billy is survived by his 3 sons and grandson and mother-in-law Janet, his best friend. We offer our sincere condolences to them.
