Bill Rooker Quiz

The annual Bill Rooker Quiz of the West Midlands, Birmingham and Coventry Branch of ICME took place this year in March, having been moved from its usual date in January.

More than a dozen teams took part in what turned out to be a competitive and closely fought contest. Although attendance numbers were slightly down on last year, the organiser on behalf of the branch, Chris Mintern, was pleased with the attendance. Quiz Master Bob Brown of Foseco, now part of Vesuvius, and his comely assistant Roger Davies, presented an enjoyable, and at times challenging, set of questions, around 70% of which were technical, and there was also a ‘Round Britain’ picture round as well as a ‘Guess the TV Theme’ sound round.

The cup was won again by last years’ winners from ICME HQ (final score 57), the team this year comprising Dr Bill Griffiths, and his partner Artemis, and Pam Murrell, pictured being congratulated by Branch President Dean Millington. The other finalists were Purbright (53), Darcast Components (49) and Foseco International (47).

The Plate competition was won by John Small of Foseco.

The Branch are grateful to all those who attended and who donated raffle prizes, to Bob and Roger for preparing a presenting the quiz and to sponsors Sibleco, for providing the refreshments.
