Phil rode in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support on behalf of Jim Billingham, who died recently after battling the disease for ten years.

Phil completed the 900 mile journey in nine days. The route typically takes leisure cyclists between two and three weeeks.

He said: "Jim set himself a list of things he wanted to do during his retirement including visiting all the capital cities of Europe and cruising the Baltic. He completed all of them except one - cycling Land's End to John O'Groats. So I had mixed emotions at the end of the ride. Jim and I met more than 50 years ago as members of Walsall Roads Cycling Club, and we remained good friends. It means a lot for me to complete it for him for his chosen charity".

Phil started from Land's End on May 19th and completed the cycle in in John O'Groats at 3pm on Thursday, May 27th.

He has a fund raising target of £30,000 and has so far collected more than £18,700.
