Scottish Branch April Meeting and AGM

Ian Young, the Scottish Branch President introduced the speaker for the evening, Elizabeth Bonfield who is the Managing Director of MetSkill, a Sheffield based organisation dedicated to the promoting learning and skills development in the metals sector.

Metskill is now part of SEMTA. Her presentation was on “Workforce Training and Skills”.

Elizabeth gave a short presentation on the work being carried out by MetSkill. The meeting went on to debate the problems associated with skill shortages and the lack of commitment from some young people.

Prior to the presentation the Branch AGM was held.
Apologies were received from Jack Gunning, Bob Armstrong, Roddy Crichton, Roger Paterson, Roy McGregor & David Park.

The incoming President and Senior Vice President were elected, Dr Tom Paterson as President and John Paterson as Senior Vice President. The financial statement was presented and accepted by those present.
