A ferrous Foundry located in the South of England requires a General Manager to take it to its next level of development in terms of its commercial activities and ongoing investment plans, having invested significantly in the Foundry over recent years. The successful applicant will play a major role in leading these developments and associated investment plans.
JOB SUMMARY:
The General Manager is responsible for all aspects of foundry production, sales, resources, and employees. They will maintain effective quality procedures and ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
MAIN DUTIES OF JOB:
· Lead, motivate, coach and mentor the Foundry Team
· Identify and implement process improvements for increased efficiency and reduce costs
· Collaborate with other stakeholders to streamline operations and resolve issues
· Negotiate on purchase of materials/equipment as necessary
· Ensure compliance with environmental legislation
· Ensure adherence to and compliance with company policies, rules and regulations relating to safety/health, performance standards, procedures and processes
· Report on production activities and performance with detailed cost analysis.
· Provide periodic updates and reports as requested by management
· Plan work flow in order to achieve long term goals established by senior management
· Review and analyse production, quality control, production shortfalls and operating concerns for remediation and implementation of appropriate corrective action
· Schedules and coordinates necessary employee training
· Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the organisation’s policies and procedures
· Produces detailed Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work
· To achieve the sales, gross margin targets and gaining market share through new businesses/acquisition of customers
· To monitor competitors’ activities and develop a suitable competitive strategy
· Regular interaction with various functions to ensure effective cross functional coordination to support achievement of company’s target.
· Build robust customer relationships through regular customer interaction

A degree of flexibility is needed and the employee may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above.

Position: Full Time/Permanent
Location: Remote working with regular travel Littlehampton, West Sussex, and across UK and Europe as required.
Base Salary: £60,000-£75,000 Based on Experience.
OTE/Bonus: Up to £120,000+ (Uncapped Commission so be above)

Role Summary
As Business Development Manager, you will drive Finecast Foundry’s commercial growth by identifying new opportunities, developing strategic relationships, and securing long-term partnerships with existing and new customers. Working closely with the Managing Director and wider leadership team, you will secure new business and shape the long-term Commercial strategy of the Company.
- Developing, implementing and evolving business development strategies to achieve set targets.
- Monitoring industry sectors, technology and metallic product requirements to identify supply opportunities.
- Building and maintaining a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities.
- Nurturing and growing relationships with customers, engineering teams, procurement and senior stakeholders.
- Identifying and introducing our Company full capabilities not only relating to supply of castings, but wider engineering competences including CNC machining from solid, Mechanical Assembly, Non-Destructive Testing and Metallurgical Analysis and Testing Services.
- Managing negotiations, securing contracts and ensuring a smooth handover into engineering and operations
- Supporting bid development and commercial proposals in collaboration with technical and quality teams
- Working closely with our marketing team to establish and communicate a clear strategy, aligned to our manufacturing capabilities, technical expertise, and core competencies, to drive awareness and sales within targeted industry sectors.

- Working closely with engineering, operations, finance and quality to ensure a coordinated approach to onboarding and account retention
About You:
You are an experienced business development or technical sales professional who understands complex engineered components and the needs of high-specification, regulated industries. You’ll be motivated by the opportunity to deliver ambitious business grow, product and market diversify.
You will bring:
- Proven experience in business development, sales position within Automotive, Aerospace, Defence, Motorsport, or similar precision-engineered sectors preferably working as a Tier 1 or 2 supplier.
- A track record of securing high-value contracts and developing accounts to build significant growth.
- Strong negotiation, communication and account management skills
- The ability to understand customer technical requirements and translate them into commercially viable solutions
- Familiarity with CRM tools and data-driven reporting
- Flexibility to travel across the UK and Europe and to be regularly present on-site at the Company.
