IN MEMORIAM – Andy Busby

It is with great sadness that we have to report the sad loss of

Andrew D Busby Prof MICME

04.10.56 to 25.03.20

Andrew started his foundry career with Mansfield Sands making various foundry sands.

He moved to BCIRA and then moved on to work for Ashland (now ASK Chemicals UK Ltd) as a Sales Representative in August 1985, this was the point where he began to use his knowledge to develop not only himself, but also develop the chemistry for the binders used in our industry today.  Andrew was at the fore front of product development for many years, traveling the world to help advance the Foundry Industry.

In the later years Andrew used his expertise and knowledge of the binder systems to help foundries in product application to get the best out of their binders.

Andrew attended many ICME branch meetings giving Technical Lectures all around the UK and also abroad at the World Foundry Congress meetings.

Andrew retired from ASK Chemicals UK Ltd in 2017, he will be missed by so many but most of all by his wife Jackie, daughter Ellie and son Alex and our thoughts are with them at this sad time.

Should you wish, and if you get chance, please raise a glass to Andy – An all-round great guy who will be sadly missed by us all.

Please note; that the funeral service for Andrew will take place on Friday the 3rd April 2020, however, due to the current situation that we are faced with, the funeral service unfortunately can only be attended by family members only.

The family have set up a memorial page for Andy, so please do take a minute to remember him by posting your memories of Andy using the following link:
