The Institute of Cast Metals Engineers, ICME, recently held the first in a suite of new one-day, intensive, Leadership & Management courses for the castings industry with the “Recruit, Retain, Develop” course being offered as part of a programme to develop new people and address recruitment challenges being experienced by most sectors.
Post the Covid pandemic, the institute was acutely aware that employers were facing some of the most challenging workplace changes in recent times, with vacancies at an all-time high. To further intensify the situation, some employees are leaving their jobs tin pursuit of a better work-lifestyle balance or increased financial and wellbeing packages, which is making matters worse. The direct and hidden costs associated with recruitment and retention are impacting businesses within the industry.
With this in mind ICME created the new one-day course, focussing on improving the recruitment process, to help companies ensure that staff are on-boarded successfully and are then both retained and developed in order to support business performance and to eliminate unnecessary cost.
The course was well-received by delegates with feedback from all attendees on the training being very positive. We asked the delegates if they would recommend this course with the response being an overwhelming ‘yes’ and here are just some of the very positive comments that the team received:

“Andy was very knowledgeable about the topic “Recruit, Retain, Develop”. His insights were engaging and informative. Very “on topic” about current challenges. I enjoyed this course!” said Nicole Smith, HR Advisor, Wall Colmonoy Ltd.
Amy Worrallo, Training & Quality Manager for ICME, explained ICME’s intentions for the suite of courses, “We design ICME’s Leadership and Management short courses with functionality and relevance in mind. They include information on a range of subjects including coaching, communication, performance tracking, change management, recruitment and much more. The industry has articulated a need for further attention to these skill sets and ICME is excited to support development in all these areas through our courses.
“We aim to be responsive and can also develop bespoke programmes that can be delivered in-house on demand”, she added.
Get In Touch: ICME is always developing new materials to support industry growth and due to high demand, we have planned delivery of further Leadership and Management courses during 2023.
