ICME are proud to announce that FTSL Apprentice Richard Jowitt MICME has been awarded The Ironmongers Company Best Technical Student Award for 2021. This award is sponsored by the Worshipful Company of Ironmongers and consists of an engraved medal and a cheque for £250. Richard received his cheque from FTSL Tutor, Albert Anderson.
Richard Jowitt MICME is currently completing his Level 3 Metal Casting, Foundry & Patternmaking Apprenticeship. This award is for the best technical student from a ferrous company currently studying or having recently completed a foundry related course. Over the last 3 years Richard has been working at William Lee Ltd and is on his to way to completing his Apprenticeship.
Richard will receive his engraved medal at the institute’s Annual Awards luncheon, which is taking place on the 25th March 2022 at the prestigious ‘The Worshipful Company of Founders’ Hall in Cloth Fair, London.
“Whilst we have several candidates who are worthy of consideration, Richard is operating at the highest level and his progression is outstanding. I can say without hesitation that he is the most hard-working, dedicated, and capable apprentice I have worked with. It is a pleasure to see Richard develop at such a fast pace and absorb knowledge in the way he does. More importantly he translates that knowledge into positive action and uses it to improve whatever he is working on.
“It is unusual for an apprentice to be given the responsibility of running a high-volume foundry, but Richard is asked to do so on a regular basis. He has proven himself to be more than capable and operates at a level well beyond his years. It is my expectation that Richard will continue to study after successful completion of his apprenticeship, and he has already expressed an interest in progressing onto a degree course. Richard is keen to progress through the management structure and I see no reason why this will not happen.” Simon Alexander, Joint Managing Director, William Lee Ltd.
