On Monday 6th December, the West Midlands Branch, and a total of 25 attendees, from across the UK and the world, came together and were treated to a well presented, interesting and professional technical lecture / webinar delivered by the branch.  The lecture ‘Marine Casting Approvals An Introduction’ was presented by Mr Clive Arnold, of Lloyds Register Marine and Offshore (a prominent marine Classification Society)

The talk demonstrated deep levels of practical experience and knowledge of casting, including historical membership of the IBF.

Clive expertly gave a clear overview of the requirements of Marine certification which actually is a broad subject in relation to casting manufacturers due to the range of applications and requirements in the Marine sector.

Clive explained the details of some applications and the testing regimes and the concept of onsite visits from Lloyds Register auditors to demonstrate the conformity of the casting lots to the particular highly structured testing requirements and how that fits in with the existing quality control systems.

The level of interest for this technical lecture was again clearly shown in the extent of the Q and A session at the end of the lecture and Clive  showed his depth of expertise in this field with some informed answers at the end of the talk, the attendees, also thanked him in our usual way with a round of applause.
