2022 has seen a successful delivery of many short courses, designed to support and encourage leadership and management in the metal casting industry.
ICME continues to have a keen interest in empowering the industry workforce. Our courses have covered topics such as ‘Aspiring and Future Leaders’, where Attendees learned about team management and their leadership style, as well as improving their performance through SMART targeting. Another ICME course ‘Recruitment and Retention’, taught our delegates how succession planning, development, and a focus on employee wellbeing can help the retention of technical skills in their business. Also delivered this year so far are the courses ‘Coaching for success’ and ‘Driving Change Management. The first course guided participants on how to develop their coaching and communication skillsets, whilst the latter course gave an insight into creative thinking approaches during a change management process.

“This is a brilliant course and gave me new skills to apply in the workplace.” (Participant, Coaching For Success)

Laura Pantling, Training & Development Lead for ICME, reflects on the importance of these courses for the industry. “Technical talent is a prized commodity within this long-established industry. By supporting the further development of employees, we are not only supporting the growth of the metal casting industry; we are ensuring successful careers of the individuals within it.”
Amy Worrallo, Quality Manager for ICME, further explains the course content. “ICME’s Leadership and Management Short Courses are designed with functionality and relevance in mind. They include information on coaching, communication, performance tracking, and much more,” states Amy. “The industry has highlighted a need for further attention to these skill sets, and ICME is excited to support development in these areas.”
