The South of England Branch of the Institute of Cast Metals Engineers held it’s first technical meeting at Brands Hatch Place Hotel in Kent on the 11th April.
21 members and guests listened to John Symes, an ex-Foundry Manager, discuss his life in motorsport.
John’s talk, entitled “The World Drivers’ Championship and the British Grand Prix” was very interesting and well received by the audience. Included in his presentation were all the characters he met and worked with, as well as the challenges and humble beginnings of the Formula 1 racing teams through the development of the sport into the global success it is today.
A buffet was enjoyed by all the attendees, which encouraged the discussions to continue long after the presentation was completed.
S of E Branch President John Townsend announced that the Annual Dinner would be held at the same venue, Brands Hatch Place, on the 7th June 2024.
