It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Dean Millington EngTech FICME , at the age of 55. Dean was a dedicated member of the Institute for 32 years, having joined in 1992 after winning the ‘Young Foundryman of the Year’ competition.
Dean’s commitment to the ICME was exemplary. He served as Branch President of the West Midlands Branch in 2009-2010 and was an active member of the West Midlands Branch Council for 18 years. Additionally, he served three terms on the National Council.
His contributions were recognised with numerous awards, including the ‘Long & Notable Services Award’ in 2014, the ‘Meritorious Services Award’ in 2016, and the Silver Pin for 30 years of dedicated service. Most recently, in March 2024, he was upgraded to the status of Fellow of the Institute.
Dean studied Cast Metals Technology at Sandwell College and began his career in the foundry industry immediately after finishing school in 1986. Since 2003, he has held the position of Quality Manager at J & J Siddons Ltd.
