On June 22nd, the Institute of Cast Metals Engineers (ICME) celebrated the tireless efforts and remarkable achievements of individuals who have dedicated their lives to the benefit of the industry, as well as those who have supported the Institute throughout the years.

The event was marked by warm and friendly atmosphere as the audience applauded each winner for their hard work and accomplishments. This year’s ceremony was particularly special, with many young professionals, apprentices, and students also being recognised for their passion and commitment as they set out on their journeys in the industry.

The ceremony began with the presentation by the National President, Anthony Evans, of the Oliver Stubbs Medal to Nick Child Prof MICME, Foseco, for his exceptional work in sharing his knowledge and expertise with the global industry. This was followed by the presentation of the E J Fox Medal to Mark Lewis, Omega Sinto Foundry Machinery Ltd for his contribution to the company’s growth and technical excellence.

The John Campbell Medal was awarded to Professor Nick Green FICME, as a founding director of the High Temperature Research Centre, University of Birmingham, while Alan Rance Prof MICME EngTech (Midas Pattern Company) & Amy Worrallo MICME of ICME were all recognised with Meritorious Services Medals, alongside Stephen Roberts Prof MICME and Simon Olive FICME who were not able to be present.

The P C Nix Award was presented to Tegan Tutha, Alucast Ltd, while Sean Lockwood of Hadleigh Castings Ltd won the ICME’s Best Apprentice. The Worshipful Co of Ironmongers’ Best Student (Ferrous) was presented to Archie Lewis of Furniss & White Ltd, and Joseph Moseley was presented with the Worshipful Company of Ironmongers Jubilee Award, which includes an expenses paid trip to the World Foundry Congress in China later this year.

Tony Sartorius (Chairman of Alucast Ltd) and Edwin Fasham both received Long & Notable Services Awards for their contributions to the industry with the British Foundry Medal for the best paper published in the FTJ presented to Luke Batter and Louise Søndergaard, and Richard Heath received an ICME Diploma.

The ICME President was also able to present Colin Steed Hon FICME with a certificate to recognise him becoming an Honorary Fellow of the Institute.
