ICME delivered a new 2 day training programme ‘Lean Principles within the casting environment’ to 8 delegates in November 2024.

The two-day course was developed to offer delegates the tools to improve their knowledge of Lean improvement tools and their application within a metal casting environment. The course covered a range of topics including Kaizen, continuous improvement techniques, benefits of clear visual management systems, problem-solving tools and flow process analysis plus a range of other topics.

The course was presented by Chris Allott Hon FICME who shared his many years of knowledge and experience within the industry.

The feedback from the training was excellent, and when asked if they would recommend this course to others, all the delegates responded with an overwhelming ‘yes’.

What our delegates had to say:

The course was very well presented by Chris. I learned a lot and it has helped me to look at problems in a different light.

The course for Lean Principles has given me the knowledge and understanding of Lean principles with the manufacturing industry along with the tools required to implement such principles.

The course has been extremely informative, not only from a Lean Principles point, but in-depth casting techniques and process. For someone new to the foundry environment this has been invaluable.

Course offered a wide variety of knowledge of Lean Principles and foundry information.

Amy Worrallo MICME, Training & EPA Quality Manager for ICME, reflects on the importance of developing the talent within the industry, saying “it is important that ICME recognise what the industry needs are, in these particularly challenging times, it is important that we are able to help our industry to secure the future talent pipeline and support with common issues facing the industry such as resource efficiency, net zero and skills development.  The positive feedback and level of interest in this course has shown there is a continued need for development from within “.
