ICME recently held a new training course entitled ‘Creating a safe environment through effective management’.   The course was designed to help departmental and senior managers improve their knowledge and understanding of how to create, maintain and develop a health and safety conscious organisation.

The two-day programme was designed to offer delegates the chance to develop skills and knowledge needed to create touch-tight management policies, avoiding near misses, whilst making a compelling case for culture change.  The human (and business) cost of any moral failure in the management of health and safety on site was explored with the aim of enabling delegates become the influencers and authors of change.

The feedback from the training was excellent, and when asked if they would recommend this course to others, all the delegates responded with an overwhelming ‘yes’.

This training course was delivered by Andy Woodall – Andy has over 25 years’ experience of delivering high impact, innovative and effective learning and development interventions and over 15 years’ experience of managing high performing teams at a senior level.   Supporting Andy was Richard Heath Prof MICME, CMF Health, Safety & Environment Officer, who delivered a session focussing around the HSE and their expectations for the management of safety in foundries.

What our delegates had to say:

“A very good, course delivered in an informal  and accessible style. Well explained and the time given to make sure we understood.”

“Very good, useful and informative. Highly recommend.”

“No question was left unanswered, a lot of knowledge in the room.”

Amy Worrallo MICME, Training & Quality Manager for ICME, reflects on the importance of giving Managers and Leaders the tools to do their daily job effectively within the industry, saying “Health & Safety is the most important issue within our industry and we have recognised that Managers and Leaders have a critical role to play in ensuring that the future of any organisations is secured.  Organisations need savvy leaders and managers to drive a Health & Safety Culture.

“Indeed it is imperative for the industry,” she added, “particularly in current times, when companies are looking to recruit and retain staff, that we are able to support and nurture the future of our industry through delivering courses like this.  The positive feedback is really encouraging.”
