We are pleased to announce that ICME has developed a brand‑new programme: the Certificate Course in Aluminium Casting Production, Metallurgy and Quality Control. Created in collaboration with industry partners and building on the success of our Cast Iron course, this new programme is designed by the industry, for the industry.
Amy Worrallo, Training Manager for ICME has been leading the work to develop the programme with input from key individuals from the industry.
“This course has been developed in response to a clear industry need for a practical programme focused on the metallurgy and production of aluminium castings,” says Amy. “It combines classroom teaching, hands‑on practical work, and company‑based projects. This is an excellent new offering from ICME that aligns with our role as the UK’s professional body for the industry and supports the professional development of our Members.”
Who will benefit from this course?
Suitable for anyone wishing to deepen their knowledge of aluminium casting metallurgy and production control, this course is ideal for recent apprentices and students transitioning from ferrous metallurgy and foundry work, as well as QA and laboratory technicians, team leaders and chargehands, melt‑shop supervisors, cast‑iron methods engineers, and production managers.
The programme will be delivered by a range of industry experts over an 18‑month period and is structured into six modules. An optional unit on High Pressure Die Casting is available for an additional fee.
The course is ICME accredited and carries ICME CPD hours. All participants who complete the programme will receive an ICME Certificate of Achievement and complimentary ICME membership at Member grade, MICME, for the duration of the programme if they are not already members.
This course equips you to apply aluminium casting metallurgy on the shop floor to solve production issues, reduce scrap, and boost quality, productivity, and profitability.
