The January branch meeting is always given over to the branch quiz which is now held as a memorial to Bill Rooker who was for several years quiz master and was known for the unique manner in which he managed the event. However before handing over to Bob and Roger branch President Mark Holliday, Prof MICME, made a presentation to Tony Hughes retiring from branch council after serving the branch and institute for many years.

This year there were 54 attending the night making 15 competing teams. The format was for 10 rounds of 10 questions, with a break after 5 rounds to recharge glasses and to enjoy a splendid buffet sponsored by Sibelco. Whilst the aim is for a fun night none the less competition was as always fierce.

At the break Siddons A were ahead with 47 points, Siddons C 2nd with 39 points and Darcast were 3rd with 37 points.

At the end of what was a very enjoyable evening joint second were Castings and Magma each with 72 points but in first place with 58 points were Siddons C.

After presenting the trophy to Siddons C and prizes to each of the first 3 teams branch President Mark made a special presentation to Bob Brown and Roger Davies who were stepping down as quiz masters after 14 years. They were given an enthusiastic round of applause for providing entertaining and testing quizzes throughout that time.
